The Cave of the Mounds is a National Natural Landmark and a geological wonder. Guests are encouraged to sift for gemstones and dig for fossils using the mining sluice on-site. Visitors also enjoy exploring the crystalized cave throughout the year. Guided tours of the cave are offered and a gift shop, prairie and savanna restoration areas, rock gardens, butterfly gardens and a discovery center are also located in the park.
Little Norway is a unique outdoor museum that depicts an early homestead of Norwegian settlers. A number of traditional Norwegian buildings house a large collection of Norse antiques. Costumed guides relate the history of Little Norway during a guided walk through the buildings and outdoor exhibits.
